Our Veterinarians
Dr. Paul A. Friesen, D.V.M.,
Dr. Friesen, co-owner and veterinarian, has provided veterinary services in Newton for nearly 20 years. He has an interest in senior pet care and dental care. Dr. Friesen and his wife, Amanda, reside in North Newton, Kansas with their four children. Dr. Friesen enjoys bike riding and has taken part in bike rides across Kansas and other states.
Dr. Shane A. Tonn, D.V.M.,
Dr. Tonn, co-owner and veterinarian, received his veterinary degree from Kansas State University in 1997. Dr. Tonn has been an established veterinarian in Newton for over 10 years. He has an interest in orthopedic surgery and equine medicine. Dr. Tonn, his wife, Stacie, and their family live near Newton. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and horseback riding.
Dr. Kent D. Haury, D.V.M.,
Dr. Haury joined our staff in 2006. Named Oklahoma Equine Practitioner of the Year in 1997, Dr. Haury has extensive experience in equine medicine with a special interest in dentistry. Dr. Haury also enjoys managing his farm near Halstead, Kansas. As of May 2013, Dr. Haury has retired from general practice. He is, however, continuing his equine dental work.
Dr. Karen S. Thompson, D.V.M.,
Dr. Thompson, a 1996 graduate of Kansas State University, has over 12 years of experience in small animal medicine. Dr. Thompson has a special interest in small animal medicine and also enjoys treating exotic pets. She lives in Newton, Kansas with her three children. In her free time she enjoys activities with her children, horseback riding, and scrapbooking.
